Brash Higgins ‘Omensetter’ Shiraz 2023

Former New York sommelier Brad Hickey (aka Brash Higgins) has carved out a cult following in McLaren Vale with bold, expressive wines made with minimal intervention. The Omensetter comes from 25-year-old dry-grown vines on the iron-rich clay and limestone of the Omensetter vineyard. Hand-harvested, wild-fermented and matured for over two years in large French oak, the 2021 is deep and powerful yet finely balanced. Blackberry, mulberry and dark plum lead, backed by licorice, pepper and earthy spice. The palate is dense and layered, with chewy yet polished tannins and a savoury, lingering finish.
