Artuke ‘Trascuevas’ Rioja Blanco 2023

A rare white from Artuke, Trascuevas is sourced from old-vine Viura planted at altitude in Baos de Ebro, where the brothers farm organically and pick early to retain tension. Fermented in concrete and large, neutral oak, the wine aims for subtle texture rather than overt oak influence. The 2023 shows pear, white peach, citrus pith and almond notes, underpinned by a fine mineral line characteristic of the Alavesas limestone-rich soils. Quietly aromatic and savoury, it reflects Artukes belief that white Rioja should be fresh, structured and firmly linked to its vineyards rather than stylistic cellar choices. A thoughtful, terroir-driven wine from one of the regions most progressive families.
