Former NYC sommelier Brad Hickey, aka Brash Higgins, has made his name in McLaren Vale for pushing boundaries while honouring terroir. This Grenache/Mataro blend comes from Blewitt Springs sandy soils, farmed biodynamically, and is wild-fermented for purity. The 2021 is perfumed and earthy, with red fruits, dark plum and spice layered over savoury tannins. Its soulful rather than flashy, made for roast lamb, duck or slow-cooked vegetables.
