PRODUCER:Founded in the 14th century by the Knights Templar, Chateau D’Arcins is one of the Medoc’s oldest properties. The previous owners worked hard to build up this wine’s reputation and the current owner, Castel, has continued in their footsteps, acquiring more vines, committingto sustainable farming and adopting modern techniques in order to enhance the wine’s quality.
VINEYARD: At Chteau dArcins, terroirs and varietals work as a pair, bringing out the essence of the Haut-Mdoc. To the north of the property, gravelly soils reveal the elegance of the Cabernet Sauvignon. To the south, Merlot thrives in pockets of clay-rich soils, especially in a plot named Queue de Boeuf located near Moulis, which provides the blend with its signature mouthfeel.
WINEMAKING: Aged for 12 months in 20% new oak, and the remainder in a mixture of one and two yearbarrels.
TASTING NOTE:The wine has remarkable body and aromas, with a finesse reminiscent of certain Margaux.A great wine with power, it has richness but also an elegance withfine and tasty tannins. It’s pure pleasure with black fruit and an armful of old rose that supports some notes of exotic wood.
