Upon crossing the Pacific, Captain Magellan met his fate at the hands of the legendary Filipino warrior LapuLapu. A fierce and vociferous defender of independence, LapuLapu led his island home against the Spaniards. There he forged a successful fortification, staving off colonial occupation for more than forty years.

In honor of our new hero, this rare edition sees a double finish in high toast, small batch, single island Philippine Rum casks, adding layers of warm spice and delicate tropical notes to an already deeply complex, well aged Rye Whiskey. OUR START
THE CHANCE DISCOVERY
WhistlePig began when we purchased our farm in 2007. After a few years of deep consideration and personal reflection we committed ourselves to crafting the worlds finest and most interesting Rye Whiskeys. With help from Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, we discovered and purchased an incredible stock of 10 year old blending Whiskey in Canada that was being profoundly misused. That initial stock, for which we are forever grateful, is what kicked off our grand adventure.

Is there another way to do this thats worth exploring?
More often than not the answer is theres always something worth exploring. We know the path forward isnt always a straight line. So we push ourselves to innovate and were reassured by our mistakes. Theyre what keep us great.

TASTING NOTES

Nose
Rich lush vanilla aromas give way to delicate tropical notes including underripe bananas, freshly picked lemon and molasses.

Palate
Abundant fresh ground cinnamon with citrus zest, butterscotch, and light notes of toffee.

Finish
Tanned leather, light brown sugar, nutmeg and allspice with a long-lasting black pepper rye spice.
