This ladle is handmade by Yamanaka Lacquerware craftsmen. Made by hollowing out a piece of wood, it has a beautiful form with no joints and is firm and comfortable to hold.
It comes with a leather strap for convenient storage in the kitchen.
It is finished by a lacquering technique called negoro, in which black lacquer is applied, and vermilion lacquer is applied over the black lacquer. The name of this technique comes from its similarity to the texture of Negoro lacquer, which was produced by the monks of Negoro Temple in Wakayama Prefecture.
It can be used for cooking and serving various soups, such as miso soup and stew. Especially when serving nabe dishes, the beautiful design makes it suitable to be placed on the table.
