Retromarcia stands out as a Chianti Classico, crafted exclusively from 100% Sangiovese grapes since 2010. The grapes flourish in vineyards rich in shale (Galestro) at 70%, sandstone (Arenaria-Calcare-Pietraforte) at 20%, and limestone (Alberese) at 10%. These vineyards, planted between 2003 and 2010, contribute to the wines unique character. The vinification and maturation process echoes the more traditional style of Chianti Classico, yielding a wine that is fresh and fruity, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced. It boasts a robust structure, vibrant acidity, and a lengthy finish.
The term Retromarcia, translating to “to back up” or “to reverse,” holds a significance beyond its literal meaning for us. Our objective has been to create wines that vividly express and epitomize Tuscanys historic region Chianti Classico, utilizing only traditional grapes. The name Retromarcia underscores our commitment to revisiting and reviving the natural elegance and allure of Sangiovese.
