Origins & Craftsmanship

Produced by the family-run Maison Delord in Lannepax, Gascony, this Bas-Armagnac represents the finest of traditional small-batch distillation. The spirit begins as a blend of classic grape varietiesUgni Blanc, Colombard, Baco, and Folle Blancheharvested, fermented, and distilled in the houses antique Sier alembic stills operating at low temperatures. Distillation occurs slowly, allowing the spirit to retain the fatty acids and fruit character essential to its richness.
After distillation, the Armagnac is aged for a minimum of 25 years in local French oak barrels, resting in Delords cool, humid cellars. The casks impart notes of spice, caramel, and nuts, while oxidation softens and integrates the spirit into luxurious harmony. Each bottle is hand-filled, wax-sealed, and individually labeleda hallmark of traditional Armagnac artistry.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Seductive and aromatic. Layers of dried fig, candied orange, toffee, and honeyed apricot intertwine with hints of leather, vanilla, and fine oak.
Palate: Silky and full-bodied. Notes of caramel, dates, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate unfold, balanced by delicate spicenutmeg, clove, and cinnamonand a gentle touch of old oak. A trace of floral honey and tobacco adds dimension.
Finish: Exceptionally long and smooth. Lingering flavors of toasted almond, hazelnut, vanilla, and dried fruit taper into a graceful, slightly nutty finale with faint tannic structure.

Born in 1875, Prosper Delord started the company as an itinerant distiller. He gained a reputation for his dedication and expertise by carting his traveling pot still around to the farms in the Bas Armagnac region. When his son Gaston took over in 1925 he officially founded the company name and established the business as a permanent site in Lannepax.

Technical information :
– Use of high quality fruit, harvested from the best sandy soils of the Bas Armagnac.
– No use of pesticides or fertilizers.
– A good use of the grape varietals : 70% Ugni blanc (gives a good foundation), 20% Baco
(gives roundness), 5% Colombard (herbal aromas) and 5% Folle Blanche (floral notes).
– A particularly slow single distillation process.
– A distillation at low temperature (around 52 to 58 degre), which enables more flavors, fatty acids and character to remain in the spirit.
– Use of 10% Gascon oak to give good tannins, darker color and beautiful spices.
– More ageing than required by law.
