“Magnificent, single vineyard old vine blend of Grenache, Carignan and Mourvdre.
The vineyard is a single two-hectare plot on the southern hills between Cairanne and Rasteau, clay-limestone hillsides with south-east exposure, providing perfect growing conditions for these varietals.
Grapes are painstakingly hand-picked before being sorted, destemmed and left to soak, with a long, slow maceration and vinification taking over a month. The low intervention approach to the winemaking carries through to maturation, where the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks theres no oak involvement at all here to showcase only the fruit and terroir of the vineyard.
Deep garnet in colour with purplish reflections, the nose is initially quite closed we would recommend decanting just to aerate but opens to reveal an enticing mix of savoury dried fruits, fresh red fruit and floral aromas. The palate is fleshy and beautifully rounded, polished black fruits with a coffee bean minerality, soft chocolately tannins and the most mannerly of acidity providing a silken backbone on which a complex array of savoury flavours reveal themselves. The finish is long and complex, remaining fresh and elegant to the end.”
