The latest Limited Edition release from Ledaig (Tobermory’s peated single malt) has been fully matured in Bordeaux red wine casks and bottled at cask strength.
The resulting dram is bursting with flavour, but can be challenging due to its young age and high cask strength ABV. Adding a drop or two of water reveals its beauty.
Nose: Peaty, caramel, a hint of burnt rubber andsalinity.
Palate: Moderately smoky (peat more prominent on the nose). Oak spiciness, roasted peanuts, white pepper and a surprising lack of fruit.
Finish: Long and pleasant, with notes of salty caramel and heather honey.
